Cervia murder case of Nicola Musiani

Overview

In late July 2026, 54-year-old Nicola Musiani was violently assaulted in Pinarella di Cervia and died on 22 July after being taken to Bufalini Hospital in Cesena. The Ravenna Prosecutor’s Office opened a homicide inquiry, and the Carabinieri collected witness statements and reviewed extensive surveillance footage. Musiani’s family began arranging a funeral in Cervia, with hundreds of neighbours and friends expected to attend and the community placing flowers and messages at his caravan site in solidarity with his son and father. On 7 August, four young men aged 19-23 from the province of Forlì-Cesena (one Italian, three of Moroccan descent) were arrested after investigators reconstructed their movements using dash-cam, public and private video, phone and environmental interceptions, and other investigative tools. They were charged with aggravated homicide for “futile motives.” Investigators believe the altercation began during the night of 18–19 July near a parking area on viale Tritone, where Musiani lived in a camper. The assault may have been triggered by a perceived provocation, such as a misunderstanding or a look, outside a local nightclub. The victim was subjected to a brutal assault involving kicks and punches to the head and chest, resulting in a traumatic brain hemorrhage. On 9 August, the suspects were identified as Oussama Ragme, Conor Finn Long, Bilal Mahboubi, and 22-year-old Houssam Abir. Authorities added that the group attack involved both punches and a bottle. As of 13 August, the suspects are accusing one another of responsibility, with two of the detainees claiming a 16-year-old is the actual perpetrator. They allege the minor boasted about the killing and threatened them, claiming his age would protect him. Consequently, the investigation into the minor has been transferred to the Bologna Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office.
