Citroën expands low‑cost EV line globally
Entities: Citroën · France · e‑C3 · Battery as a Service · C3 Aircross
Overview
In July 2026 Citroën continued broadening its low‑cost electric portfolio. The company confirmed the e‑C3X compact SUV in India, first unveiled on 17 June, with a Battery‑as‑a‑Service option that lowers the entry price to 69.8 lakh rupees (≈118 k ¥) and separates battery cost via an EMI of 2.26 rupees per kilometre, yielding a running cost of about 0.19 rupee per kilometre. Pre‑orders are now open.
In Greece the base‑price of the C3 Aircross gasoline model was cut to €18 900, with hybrid and fully electric versions starting at €23 500. The seven‑seat SUV gains a 10.25‑inch infotainment screen, head‑up display and other driver‑assist features.
The C3 family also saw contrasting developments. A series of safety alerts were issued for the PureTech 1.2 gasoline engine, covering engine‑warning lights, power loss, oil‑consumption anomalies and potential belt wear, prompting owners to seek diagnostic service. Simultaneously, Citroën launched the e‑C3 Urban Range YOU, an affordable city EV priced at €12 990 after incentives. The model sold 191 100 units worldwide in Q1 2026, including 181 000 in Europe and 67 000 in France, giving Citroën a 3.5 % market share and a top‑three position in the French market, and earned third place in the 2026 Car of the Year awards.
