Head coach Jesús Cruz noted that the strategic decision to rest players like Robertlandy Simón during the NORCECA semifinals helped ensure peak performance for the Olympic qualifiers. Osvaldo Martínez, president of the Cuban Volleyball Federation, expressed satisfaction with the team’s maturity and cohesion, noting that despite domestic economic difficulties, preparation included training camps in China and Japan. This victory marks Cuba’s first Olympic appearance since the Rio 2016 Games.
