Cultural celebrations and milestones in Vietnam

Overview

Vietnam continues to observe various cultural and civic milestones. The Vietnam Youth Federation is marking its 70th anniversary with several commemorative events, including the ‘Thanh nien song dep’ (Youth Living Beautifully) awards in Hanoi, which honored 15 exemplary young individuals for social contributions in fields such as healthcare, education, and disaster relief. Additionally, a baking competition titled ‘Tinh hoa nghệ thuật làm bánh’ (The Essence of Baking Art) was held in Ho Chi Minh City. The organization also concluded its 2026 ‘I Love My Fatherland’ journey in Hanoi on October 10-11, a five-month initiative focused on patriotic education and honoring national heroes.

Hanoi is also celebrating the 72nd anniversary of its Liberation Day, marking the historical return of the capital to independence on October 10, 1954. The anniversary featured large-scale cultural programs, such as the ‘80 Years - Hanoi's Heroic Song Echoes Forever’ art program and the ‘Hanoi Symphony’ concert at the Ho Guom Opera House. The ‘Chắp cánh tuổi thơ’ (Wings for Childhood) program was also organized for families.

To mark the occasion, the city held synchronized fireworks displays at Hoan Kiem, Tay Ho, and Van Quan lakes, utilizing over 4,000 high-altitude and 1,175 low-altitude fireworks. Alongside these festivities, the municipal government highlighted infrastructure progress, including the technical opening of sections of the Ring Road 2.5 project, and announced 292 planned projects for 2026 with a total investment of approximately 385 trillion VND to enhance urban connectivity.
