Ducati Desmo450 and Desmo250 motorcycle developments

Overview

Ducati has expanded its Desmo platform with the introduction of the Desmo450 SM Supermotard and the Desmo250 MX motocross models. The Desmo450 SM, derived from the Desmo450 MX platform, features a 449.6 cc single-cylinder Desmodromic engine producing 63.5 HP and 53.55 Nm of torque. High-performance specifications include custom Showa suspension with a 49mm Kashima-coated inverted fork, Brembo Stylema radial calipers, and Excel rims with a Bartubeless system. Electronic features such as adjustable traction control, launch control, and engine brake control can be managed via the X-Link application.

For the 2027 model year, the Desmo450 MX and Desmo450 MX Factory will receive updates to improve ergonomics and durability. Technical changes include a 51-tooth rear sprocket for increased torque, reinforced components, redesigned foot levers, a larger fuel tank opening, and Pirelli Scorpion MX32 tires. These models will also utilize a predictive maintenance system. In North America, a specific suspension setup with 20 mm offset triple clamps will be available, though the Factory version will not be sold there. Pricing for the 2027 MX models is set at 12,990 euros and 15,990 euros for the Factory version.

In Brazil, Ducati launched a limited initial batch of 40 units (15 MX and 25 MX Factory models). The Brazilian Desmo450 MX is priced at R$ 99,000.00, while the Factory version, featuring an Akrapovič titanium exhaust and a holeshot device, is priced at R$ 139,000.00. These models feature a Ducati Traction Control (DTC) system designed to measure rear wheel slip to avoid intervention during jumps.

Additionally, Ducati introduced the Desmo250 MX, a competition-focused motocross motorcycle with a 44.5 hp single-cylinder desmodromic engine. It utilizes an aluminum perimeter frame and swingarm derived from the Desmo450 MX, adjusted for the 250cc class.
