FamilyMart 45th anniversary volume and collaboration efforts
Overview
To celebrate its 45th anniversary, FamilyMart launched the ‘Okawari 45% Increase Strategy’ campaign in Japan, offering popular products with 45% more volume at original prices. The first phase, beginning August 4, saw significant sales surges, including a 13.5-fold increase for the ‘Plenty Ham Sandwich’. A second phase, starting August 11, focused on larger-sized items for the Obon holiday.
Following the volume campaign, the retailer transitioned to the ‘Famima Collaboration Festival’. This large-scale initiative features 18 products developed with 15 different companies, including Godiva, Nissin Foods, Lotte, and Meiji. The first wave of products achieved over 4.5 million sales within five days. The second wave, launched on September 8, includes unique items such as ‘Nama Peyoung Sauce Yakisoba’, a chilled noodle version of the famous brand, and ‘Famichiki’ flavored with Mizkan’s Ajipon citrus seasoning.
Additionally, FamilyMart is evolving its ‘Nama Canelé’ dessert line. On September 8, 2026, the company launched the ‘Nama Canelé Stick Cake’ at approximately 16,100 stores nationwide, excluding Okinawa. This evolution of the original ‘Nama Canelé Cake’ features a stick-shaped sandwich design with whipped cream between two pieces of canelé dough, manufactured by Yamazaki Baking for easy, one-handed consumption.
To support customers facing rising prices and to reduce food loss, FamilyMart is also running an ‘Ochugen Imperfect Sale’ on its online store, offering discounts of up to 58% on surplus gift items like detergents and canned crab. Promotional campaigns also include ‘buy one, get one’ offers on various beverages and snacks via the Famipay app.
