Overview

Early June saw the Dragão Fashion Brazil festival at the Dragão do Mar Centre, a four‑day showcase of runway shows, live music, street parades and a student design competition, supported by city and state authorities.

Following the fashion week, July featured a packed programme of theatre, contemporary and urban dance, family shows, the 20th Festival de Esquetes and the new work “O Céu do Bom Jardim”, with tickets ranging from free to modest fees.

From 9 July to 25 October, CAIXA Cultural Fortaleza presented the free exhibition “Fortaleza por Otacílio de Azevedo e Nirez”, displaying 150 historic photographs and related documents as part of the city’s tricentennial celebrations, accompanied by educational activities and a lecture.

Later in July, the centre’s agenda expanded with the XX Festival de Esquetes (July 28‑August 2) staged by Cia. Teatral Acontece, a 40‑year career concert by regional musician Moacir Bedê, a book‑launch signing for “Atemoia”, free cinema screenings (including the short‑film project Se Achegue! and the feature “Ecos do Teatro Experimental do Negro”), and the Feria Fuxico and vinyl market that gathered creative‑economy entrepreneurs.

On 22 August the venue hosted the Porão do Rock Festival, where rapper‑singer Criolo debuted his new tour, joined by acts such as Rodox, Trampa, Lucas Inutilismo, Guizão and Conti, presenting a mix of rap, hip‑hop, samba and MPB.
