Ghana regional infrastructure development

Overview

Ghanaian officials are overseeing various regional infrastructure developments across multiple sectors. In the education sector, new facilities have been commissioned in the Upper Denkyira West and Kwadaso districts, including a kindergarten block at Modaso Roman Catholic School and a six-unit classroom block at Nyankyerenease Methodist Basic School to reduce overcrowding.

In the healthcare and transport sectors, progress continues on community facilities and road networks. In the Nkoranza South Municipality, construction is underway for a new CHPS compound in Akropong and a proposed nursing college. Additionally, work has commenced on the Adawso–Nketepa–New Jerusalem Road in the Kwahu South Municipality to improve transport for farmers and commercial operators.

Expanding healthcare access in the Ashanti Region, the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly has commissioned a fully furnished Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound in Nyankyerenease. Funded through the Assembly’s Common Fund, the facility includes nurses’ accommodation and is designed to serve residents, particularly the elderly, who previously traveled long distances for medical attention.

Municipal Chief Executive Eric Assibey indicated intentions to construct additional CHPS compounds in areas such as Asuyeboah Container and Kwadaso. While the Nyankyerenease facility has commenced operations with staff and essential medicines to handle maternal health, family planning, and blood pressure management, Municipal Health Director Grace Billi Kampitib noted a continued need for additional equipment and logistical support.
