Indonesia’s healthcare landscape is undergoing shifts in administration, infrastructure, and digital integration. Initially, the National Health Insurance (JKN) program faced scrutiny over data accuracy and payment sustainability. Concerns were raised by the Indonesian House of Representatives regarding the National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN), as inaccuracies in classifications threatened the health subsidies of poor families. Additionally, healthcare workers in North Sumatra reported being policed after questioning the transparency of fund management, while BPJS Kesehatan introduced the REHAB 3.0 program to help participants manage premium arrears through flexible installments.

Efforts have since expanded toward digital innovation and infrastructure development. BPJS Kesehatan reported an 80 percent utilization rate for digital administration services and is deploying mobile service units to residential areas. At the regional level, local governments are seeking to upgrade facilities, such as procuring MRI machines and upgrading community health centers into hospitals. On a national scale, officials have emphasized that large-scale healthcare requires increased research and investment to maintain affordability, while organizations like the Nahdlatul Ulama Health Institute are working to coordinate services with government programs.
