Under this extension, executive agencies, banks, and municipalities will maintain the 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM schedule, while operational units like universities and healthcare facilities will follow previously approved schedules. To further support energy management, executive agencies must turn off cooling systems one hour before the workday ends, or immediately upon conclusion in tropical regions. Municipalities have also been instructed to adjust public transportation to accommodate these hours.

In a separate legislative development, the Iranian Parliament’s Social Commission is considering an amendment to Article 87 of the Civil Service Management Law. The proposed change seeks to reduce weekly working hours for covered agencies from 44 to 42.5 hours, potentially making Thursdays non-working days. Regarding broader restructuring, efforts to convert corporate staff to permanent positions face financial constraints and a mandate to reduce the government structure by 15%. The Administrative and Employment Organization proposes controlling new entries and not replacing retiring personnel to meet this goal.
