Concurrently, Judge Raquel Nieto has identified indicators pointing to Jonathan Andic as a possible suspect in a homicide investigation. A primary focus is a trip Jonathan took to Quito, Ecuador, in March 2025, which police suspect may have been an attempt to dispose of an iPhone 14 present on the day of his father’s death.

In September 2026, the Mossos d’Esquadra reported that mobile phone data ruled out health issues as a cause for a previous fall, challenging defense claims of osteoarthritis. As the case progresses, a judge in Martorell has reactivated the investigation, summoning new witnesses to clarify the circumstances of the fall.

To counter the prosecution’s theory that a planned philanthropic foundation provided a motive for homicide, the defense has requested testimony from lawyer Miquel Roca Junyent and his son, Joan Roca. Additionally, three executors named in Andic’s 2023 will—Mango CEO Toni Ruiz, executive Daniel López, and José Crehueras—are expected to testify this autumn to clarify the businessman’s final wishes regarding his estate and the foundation.
