Japan 2026 retail and food-service closures

Overview

Late July 2026 saw the closure of the Minstop convenience store in Fuji City and the Ebari‑ya supermarket in Yokohama, both offering discount sales before shutting on 31 July. The TSUTAYA EBISUBASHI branch in the Dotonbori district, which has operated since 2003, will close on 11 January 2027 due to lease expiration. Its Osaka IP Bookstore is expected to relocate within Osaka City in spring 2026. Additionally, the TSUTAYA Abenobashi branch in the Tennoji area is scheduled to close on 4 October 2024, with rental services ending 27 September. Late August updates include the closure of the ‘Chuka Soba Ichi’ Mazesoba restaurant near Higashi-Omiya Station on 28 August.
