Latin American academic and professional forums

Academic and professional forums in Latin America have recently focused on diverse regional challenges, ranging from educational management to international political economy. In the educational sector, the XVII Latin American Education Forum addressed the professionalization of school leadership and the mobilization of educational communities. Concurrently, the ORITEL International Congress held an encounter titled ‘Education From All Voices’ to promote inclusive education through dialogue with students with disabilities, teachers, and professionals. This event aimed to produce the ‘Declaration of Colombia’ to document the demands of students with disabilities and their families. More recently, academic leaders have shifted focus toward regional integration and the technological transformations affecting higher education. In Argentina, Carlos Alvarado Cerezo, Secretary General of the Central American University Council (CSUCA), participated in a forum organized by the Federation of University Teachers' Unions of South America (FESIDUAS), where he emphasized the importance of the Fifth Plan for Regional Integration of Higher Education in Central America and the Dominican Republic (PIRESC V) to coordinate 30 member universities. In Argentina and Chile, discussions have also centered on innovation and digital power. Eugenio Martín De Palma, President of the Council of Rectors of Private Universities (CRUP), participated in Córdoba’s Social Week 2026 to address artificial intelligence and the common good. Additionally, the REALCUP regional meeting in La Serena, Chile, convened authorities from Chile, Argentina, Cuba, Peru, Mexico, and Ecuador to discuss quality and innovation in distance learning. In the economic sphere, academic institutions have initiated discussions regarding the shifting global order. The Universidad Nacional de Moreno in Argentina prepared for the V Congress of International Political Economy (CEPI) to discuss decoupling and hegemony disputes.
