Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), accused President Bola Tinubu and his associates of being ‘ingrates’ toward El-Rufai, claiming the administration has acted with hostility despite El-Rufai’s contributions to Tinubu’s 2023 victory.
Legal setbacks have mounted. A Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed a lawsuit to prevent the freezing of his assets, with Judge Joyce Abdulmalik ruling the suit was an “abuse of judicial process.” In a separate ₦10 billion fundamental rights suit, Justice Chigozie Onah denied El-Rufai’s request to play six hours of CCTV footage, stating the court “cannot be turned into a viewing centre” and permitting only 20 minutes of selected portions. Additionally, in his wiretapping trial, Justice Abdulmalik dismissed a no-case submission, ordering El-Rufai to enter his defence.
