Mazda expands Indonesian operations, new CX-5 launch

Overview

In late July 2026 Mazda announced a suite of Indonesia‑focused initiatives. Production of the CX‑30 began on 29 July at a new plant in Citeureup, West Java, operated by PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia and its subsidiary PT Eurokars Produksi Pratama under Mazda’s Lean Asset Strategy, underscoring Indonesia’s role as a growth market per senior executive Toru Nakajima. At the 2026 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show the company unveiled the third‑generation CX‑5, described as a “succession and evolution” model with a longer, wider body, larger trunk and a fully digital cockpit. Two local trim levels – a Sport Edition (≈Rp 599 million) and a Kuro Edition (≈Rp 689.9 million) – were announced. The new CX‑5 retains the SKYACTIV‑G 2.5‑L engine (179 PS, 240 Nm) and adds a 12.9‑inch touchscreen, 10.25‑inch digital instrument cluster, Bose 12‑speaker audio, capacitive steering switches and the i‑Activsense safety suite (Blind‑Spot Monitoring, Front‑Cross‑Traffic Alert, Smart Brake Support, Mazda Radar Cruise Control). Earlier updates also covered market‑specific changes in Taiwan and Australia, the introduction of the fully electric CX‑6e, and a facelift for the CX‑30.
