Megasztár talent show controversy

Overview

The ninth season of the Hungarian talent show Megasztár continues to face scrutiny for prioritizing interpersonal drama over musical talent. While the program has featured stories of resilience, such as the return of visually impaired singer Teca Krizbai, recent episodes have been dominated by contestant controversies and judging conflicts.

Contestant issues have included plagiarism allegations involving 17-year-old Imre Guba. After musician Csík László contested Guba’s claim of an original composition, Guba issued an apology for performing László’s work as his own. Other tensions included a verbal altercation where contestant József Olasz issued a physical threat toward a peer, and a dispute between contestants Varga Irén and Lakatos Rubina.

Internal tensions among the judges have intensified. Bogi Puskás-Dallos has faced personal frustration and has expressed an intention to remain silent in future discussions to avoid further friction with colleague Erika Herceg.

Friction between Herceg and Puskás-Dallos has escalated significantly. During a duel, Herceg chose to allow contestant Liza to continue while Szabó Csillag was eliminated. This sparked backlash from Marics Peti and T. Danny. When Puskás-Dallos attempted to intervene by offering to take Csillag onto her own team, Herceg reportedly grabbed Puskás-Dallos’s arm, declaring, ‘No, I won’t let her!’ before walking out and stating she would not continue filming. Although Herceg later returned to apologize, T. Danny criticized the apology as inconsistent with her actions. Csillag remains in the competition via Puskás-Dallos’s team.
