Following its prominence at Gamescom 2026, 4A Games and Deep Silver have confirmed a specific release date for ‘METRO 2039’ of February 4, 2027. During a PlayStation State of Play broadcast, developers provided technical details regarding the game’s performance.

A dedicated Performance Mode will be available at launch for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X, offering 4K resolution, 60 FPS, and ray tracing. Gameplay footage showcased on the PlayStation 5 Pro specifically highlighted these 4K/60 FPS capabilities with ray tracing enabled. On PC, the title is expected to support higher-end features such as path tracing.

The game utilizes the proprietary 4A Engine and features a new protagonist known as ‘The Stranger,’ a former Spartan warrior navigating the ruined, radioactive surface of Moscow and its underground tunnels. The narrative follows his journey through a world controlled by the Novoreich regime.

The title, which has already won ‘Best Visuals’ at the gamescom awards, will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S. Development continues across studios in Ukraine and Malta. As previously announced, pre-orders are expected to begin within 2026, including a Collector’s Edition featuring a wearable Spartan helmet replica.
