To support these changes, the Municipal Institute of Women (IMM) is launching workshops titled ‘Digital Accompaniment for Children and Adolescents’ to help parents supervise device use and combat cyberbullying, which Unicef Mexico reports affects 23 percent of adolescents aged 12 to 17.
While experts note that restricting use can improve learning, particularly for lower-performing students, research from México Evalúa and Tecnológico de Monterrey warns that general restrictions could widen digital gaps for students who rely on mobile devices as their primary technological tools in schools lacking connectivity.
