By the tracking week ending 16 August, the series reached the top of Netflix’s weekly non-English language chart, recording 7.5 million views. The show reached the top 10 in 68 countries and held the number one position in 26 countries, including South Korea, Brazil, Indonesia, and Singapore.

Amidst this success, lead actress Ha Young faced controversy regarding her great-grandfather’s alleged involvement in pro-Japanese activities during the colonial era. Ha Young later expressed that she was “sincerely sorry” for her initial dismissal of the allegations.
