Noi Bai Airport traffic and immigration reforms

Overview

In early August 2026 Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport began a series of operational changes aimed at easing congestion and speeding passenger processing. On 3 August the airport rolled out a new traffic‑lane plan for taxis, ride‑hailing vehicles and private cars at both terminals, assigning specific lanes and parking bays and limiting stop times. The next day a dedicated immigration lane for Vietnamese citizens opened at Terminal 2, cutting clearance times to about four‑five minutes during peak periods.

On 5 August the airport introduced an additional pick‑up rule for yellow‑plate vehicles with fewer than nine seats, including ride‑hailing cars. These vehicles may now stop for up to three minutes in lane 3 in front of Hall E at Terminal 1. The change follows the earlier lane re‑organisation and is supported by new canopies along Terminal 1 (Hall A to Hall E) and orange‑uniformed staff displaying “Here to help” signs to guide passengers to the correct pick‑up points. The measures continue the airport’s effort to reduce congestion, improve service capacity, and provide a smoother experience for arriving passengers, drivers, and airport personnel.
