Pacific climate coordination for COP31

In late July 2026 Pacific leaders first gathered to align their climate and digital strategies ahead of the upcoming COP31. A week later the focus expanded to incorporate gender‑based violence and renewable‑energy investment. At the Pacific Innovation Forum, women’s groups and ministers highlighted the surge in intimate‑partner violence after disasters and called for gender‑responsive measures in climate plans. Recommendations were made to embed such safeguards into pre‑COP policies. The Australian Clean Energy Summit featured calls from Tuvalu’s high commissioner to showcase adaptation projects, aiming to attract investment for the Pacific Resilience Facility and accelerate renewable power generation across the region.
