Photography festivals and exhibitions in Italy
Overview
Various photography festivals and exhibitions are scheduled across Italy for late 2026.
In the Lombardy region, the Ubiqua Festival at Villa Ghirlanda in Cinisello Balsamo, hosted by the Museo Nazionale di Fotografia, runs from September 18 to 20. The event explores the intersection of photography and music through exhibitions by artists such as Jacopo Benassi and Vincenzo Castella, alongside ‘Vedere oltre. Fotografia e sacro’, which features over 90 works by masters including Jodice and Giacomelli. Supported by the Ministry of Culture’s Photography Strategy 2025, the festival includes live performances by the duo Trasmissione and violist Vladyslava Luchenko. Additionally, the Musei Civici in Monza will host ‘Il Parco di Monza tra realtà e magia’ from September 18 to 27, a collective exhibition by 14 photographers from the Circolo Fotografico Monzese curated by Vincenzo Lombardo.
Other major events include the second edition of ‘October photo’ in Milan, organized by the Istituto Italiano di Fotografia, and the 23rd FotoArte International Photography Festival in Martina Franca.
In Oristano, the Pinacoteca Carlo Contini will host a debate on October 10 titled ‘L’arte legata. La pratica del kinbaku nella poetica di Araki’. This event concludes the ‘Secret Pages’ exhibition dedicated to Nobuyoshi Araki as part of the 28th Dromos Festival, featuring a live demonstration of Japanese rope binding. In Caserta, the Museo Reggia di Caserta is hosting ‘Archetipi’ by Antonio Biasiucci, featuring approximately 300 photographs and multimedia installations, with guided tours scheduled for October 9 and throughout November.
