In late August 2026, DeNA, Pokémon, and Creatures Inc. revealed that the mobile application ‘Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket’ will launch a new series in October 2026. The story follows an aspiring competitive player named Mikiya and their partner, Mimikyu. A teaser trailer released with the announcement features the duo within a neon-lit urban setting. The production involves director Katsuhiko Kitada, character designer Akemi Hayashi, and animation studio CloverWorks, with STORY inc. involved in planning and production. This marks the first major Pokémon theatrical release since 2020’s ‘Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle’.

In addition to the film, an update for ‘Pokémon Champions’ was revealed for release on September 9, 2026. This update is set to introduce new Mega evolutions, specifically ‘Mega Absol Z, Mega Lucario Z, and Mega Garchomp Z’, along with various gameplay adjustments.
