Porsche 911 GT3 model developments

Recent developments regarding the Porsche 911 GT3 series include high-profile ownership, performance testing, and the release of commemorative limited editions.

In Europe, football goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and YouTuber Plex acquired a 911 GT3 RS featuring a custom gold finish with personalized details, including signatures from Courtois’ wife, Michelle. Additionally, track testing at the Nürburgring Nordschleife compared a 911 GT3 (992) equipped with a Manthey-Kit against a Ferrari 296 GTB. Despite the Ferrari producing 830 hp compared to the Porsche’s 510 hp, professional driver Christian Gebhardt recorded nearly identical lap times of 6:58.70 for the Porsche and 6:59.42 for the Ferrari, highlighting the aerodynamic and brake upgrades of the Manthey-Kit.

Porsche is also expanding its limited-edition offerings. In New Zealand, the brand is marking its 50th anniversary with five 911 GT3 Tourings featuring a ‘Paint to Sample Yachting Blue’ finish and interior details honoring the late Sir Colin Giltrap. These models are priced at $584,000, with Auckland deliveries starting this September.

To commemorate the Nürburgring circuit’s centenary in 2027, Porsche has announced the ‘911 GT3 100 Jahre Nürburgring’ edition. Limited to 100 units exclusively for the German market, the model draws inspiration from the track’s ‘Green Hell’ nickname. Design features include White or GT Silver Metallic exteriors accented with green protective film, green tow hooks, and green rear wing accents. Owners may select a custom racing number between 0 and 999. The interior includes ‘Welcome to the Green Hell’ door sills and green upholstery. The model can be equipped with the Manthey Kit, providing aerodynamic enhancements that allow the vehicle to generate up to 540 kg of downforce at 285 km/h. Orders are expected to open in September 2026, with deliveries scheduled for 2027.
