Public sentiment regarding Prabowo-Gibran administration

Overview

Recent surveys indicate significant public pressure regarding the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. A study by the Center of Economic and Law Studies (CELIOS) and the Shadow Cabinet reported that 75 percent of respondents feel stressed by the administration’s policies, with 82 percent believing that government taxes and levies are too heavy. The same report noted that 51 percent of respondents perceive a move toward “militaristic governance.”

As the administration approaches its second year, an Arawicaksa Institute survey measured public satisfaction at 50.1 percent. While this represents a slim majority, only 3.3 percent of respondents reported being “very satisfied,” while 44.8 percent expressed dissatisfaction. Researcher Rudi Hartono noted that this narrow margin highlights significant challenges, comparing the trend to President Joko Widodo’s first term. The survey indicates mounting pressure to address price stability.

In contrast, other data suggests high levels of public trust. A Poltracking Indonesia survey reported a trust level of 64.8 percent, a slight increase from 63.2 percent in August 2026, though satisfaction with government performance was lower at 55.3 percent. Similarly, Voxpol Center research showed a trust level of 63.1 percent, with particularly high confidence recorded in the Bali–NTB–NTT region at 88.40 percent. Voxpol suggested this trust provides a strategic foundation for the government to implement priority programs.

Regarding the legal sector, the Association for the Study of Government Law and Anti-Corruption (PUSHAN) assigned the administration a score of eight out of ten. Executive Director Oce Madril attributed this to strong political will, noting a “constructive and positive trend” in law enforcement and a relative lack of political interference in legal proceedings.
