Rolls-Royce SMR international expansion
Overview
Rolls-Royce SMR is expanding its technological partnerships and supply chain integration for its small modular reactor (SMR) program.
ABB and Rolls-Royce SMR signed a memorandum of understanding to explore integrating automation, electrification, and communication solutions to support a standardized, factory-built approach to nuclear project delivery. Rolls-Royce SMR is currently conducting site-specific design activities in North Wales and is working with ČEZ in the Czech Republic and Videberg Kraft in Sweden.
To support international deployment, the Czech Chamber of Commerce and the Association of Energy Industry of the Czech Republic launched the modulreaktor.cz portal. This platform is designed to help Czech companies join the global supply chain for Rolls-Royce SMR projects, providing a centralized location for viewing tenders and expressing interest in services. The initiative seeks to integrate local industry into nuclear technology projects across the United Kingdom and Europe, with main commodity selection expected to continue through the end of 2027.
