Sabor Barranquilla 19th edition concludes
Overview
The 19th edition of the Sabor Barranquilla food festival in Colombia concluded after a four-day event focused on Caribbean culinary heritage and social transformation. Sponsored by Gases del Caribe, the festival featured 52 chefs and cooks showcasing traditions from Colombia, Aruba, and Curaçao, blending traditional recipes with modern techniques.
With fruits serving as the central theme, the programming included an academic forum where researchers, scientists, historians, and producers analyzed the cultural and scientific potential of various fruits. The event also facilitated commercial connections through a business meeting supported by the Chamber of Commerce and offered special selections from 24 restaurants.
A significant highlight was the participation of the department of La Guajira as the guest of honor. Its pavilion, titled ‘Descubre La Guajira, donde los sabores cuentan historias’, attracted more than 15,000 visitors. Organized by the Gobernación de La Guajira, the pavilion showcased regional gastronomy, culture, and entrepreneurship through live cooking demonstrations by chefs including José Luis Cotes, Randy Yasith Montiel Pushaina, Zaida Cotes Aguilar, and Betsy Viviana Sierra Gutiérrez.
The cultural component featured musical and dance performances by AMA La Academia and composer Rafael Manjarrez, alongside product presentations from local businesses such as Kaaura, Dulce Renacer, Cocoana, and Almirante Cerveza Artesanal to promote the region as a tourist destination.
