Science and technology education events in Romania

Overview

Various science and technology events are being organized across Romania to promote research and STEAM education among youth and the general public.

In mid-September 2026, the Romanian Science Festival in Pitești scheduled an exhibition featuring 23 research projects from high school students. Concurrently, the European Researchers’ Night was set to take place at the USAMV Cluj-Napoca campus, utilizing interactive demonstrations and artificial intelligence showcases.

By late September, the SCIENCE4FUTURE IV event was scheduled for September 25 in Sighetu Marmației at the Babeș-Bolyai University campus. This European Commission initiative, involving several universities and the Bistrița-Năsăud Museum Complex, aimed to connect the public with scientific results through topics such as tourism experience design and catacomb counting. Additionally, the Științescu & friends 2026 Science Fair was set for September 26 at the Water Museum in Timișoara, featuring robotics, 3D printing, and biodiversity explorations.

Recent activities included the sixth edition of the Științescu Vâlcea Science Fair at River Plaza Mall in Râmnicu Vâlcea, which offered over 20 interactive STEAM activities. In Brașov, Researchers' Night drew more than 5,000 visitors to the Research-Development Institute of Transilvania University. Looking ahead, the second ‘Broboți Science & Tech Fair’ is scheduled for October 17, 2026, in Pitești City Hall Square.

In early October 2026, academic institutions expanded their focus toward scientific promotion and career guidance. Aurel Vlaicu University in Arad hosted the 2026 ‘Researchers’ Day’ as part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, featuring a competition with over 32 school teams presenting scientific projects. Meanwhile, at the Gheorghe Asachi Technical University in Iași, journalist Dragoș Pătraru delivered a conference titled ‘Today’s Education, Tomorrow’s Career’ during the ‘Tudor Vladimirescu Campus Days’, addressing labor market navigation and employee rights for students.
