Serbian boxing prep for Mediterranean Games & Euro Champs
Entities: Jovana Devetaković · Branislav Jović · Serbia · Dunja Vuksić · Mirko Ždralo
Overview
The senior Serbian men’s boxing squads continued their high‑altitude conditioning at Jahorina and then moved to a final preparation camp at the Italian Olympic Centre before departing for the Mediterranean Games in Taranto. Parallel to the senior program, the women’s boxing federation kept its intensive camp on Zlatibor through late July, while the shooting federation finalised an eight‑shooter roster that includes Olympic champions Zorana Arunović and Damir Mikec for the Games.
On 30 July the youth boxing team, overseen by selector Branislav Jović, completed its basic preparation at Jahorina and transferred to a final camp at the Serbian Boxing Federation’s regional centre in Loznica. Cuban expert Horche Luis Frometa praised the squad’s steady progress and the value of sparring sessions with boxers from Spain, Turkey, Ukraine and Bulgaria. The youngsters now train daily, feel ready to perform before a home crowd and aim for top placements at the European Youth Boxing Championships (11‑22 August) in Loznica.
The under‑19 women’s squad also finished its final camp on Zlatibor, fielding Nataša Lukić (‑51 kg), Jovana Devetaković (‑57 kg), Dunja Vuksić (‑65 kg) and Sonja Vukšić (‑75 kg) under selector Mirko Ždralo, Pedro Ransel and Alan Bičenov. The athletes and coaches say preparations have gone “according to plan” and target podium finishes at the same European Championships, the first senior‑level event hosted by Serbia.
