Regional growth is evident in Celje, which saw a 24 percent increase in overnight stays during July and August compared to the previous summer. To capitalize on this, Zavod Celeia Celje has secured over 425,000 euros in funding to develop immersive cultural heritage experiences through digital technology. Interest in walking holidays continues to rise due to “coolcationing,” a trend driven by concerns over European heatwaves. In 2026, enquiries for hiking in Slovenia rose by 67 percent compared to the previous year. Recent August 2026 data shows Slovenia experienced 8 percent growth in overnight stays, totaling 2.9 million, with foreign tourists accounting for 83 percent of arrivals. German tourists remained the largest group with over 540,000 stays, while Italian visitors saw a 9 percent increase.
