SpiralAI expands RyzaChat:AI and announces SophieChat:AI

Overview

SpiralAI announced the development of RyzaChat:AI, an AI-driven conversation RPG based on the Atelier Ryza franchise. Co-developed with Gust and licensed from Koei Tecmo Games, the mobile game for iOS and Android was originally scheduled for release on 18 August 2026. However, SpiralAI announced a delay to the original date, citing a higher-than-expected number of pre-registrations which required an upgrade to the server environment to maintain stability. On 23 August 2026, SpiralAI officially launched RyzaChat:AI as a free-to-play title. The RPG allows players to interact with the character Ryza through natural conversation to drive gameplay elements such as exploration, alchemy, and combat. The proprietary SpiralLLM model used for text generation was trained on the original series’ scenarios and settings. To maintain creative integrity, developers stated that all visual assets were hand-drawn under the supervision of illustrator Tridomono without the use of generative AI, and voice lines utilize recordings by actress Yuri Noguchi processed through custom speech synthesis technology. The game supports multiple languages, including Japanese, English, and Portuguese (Brazil), with a global version planned. Following the launch, the management team issued a warning regarding terms of service violations, reporting instances of unauthorized data extraction through activities such as reverse engineering. The developers also noted the spread of unofficial images and videos of the character Ryza created using generative AI on social media. Despite these issues, the service reported significant engagement, surpassing one million character utterances by late August. At the Tokyo Game Show 2026, SpiralAI and Koei Tecmo Games revealed upcoming features for RyzaChat:AI, including a “travel mode” with an in-app map of Japan and a multiplayer mode for up to four players. New character skins, such as Halloween and Chinese dress themes, are planned.
