The New Level debut and AEW World Trios title pursuit

Overview

Kofi Kingston and Austin Creed, performing as ‘The New Level’, made a surprise debut for All Elite Wrestling (AEW) at the All In event in Wembley Stadium. To maintain secrecy, the duo reportedly used disguises and stayed in a hotel away from the venue to avoid detection. The pair teamed with Swerve Strickland to win the AEW World Trios Championship, emerging as the sole survivors in a Trios Roulette Royale match. Following their victory, Ricochet and his group, The Demand, criticized the newcomers as ‘rookies’ who upstaged established talent.

During their transition from WWE, reports indicated the duo faced contract negotiations involving a significant pay cut, though Kingston noted the decision was driven by a desire to compete in a division that appreciates their style. In an interview on ‘Close Up with Renee Paquette’, the duo reflected on their alliance with Strickland, noting the contrast between their hyper-positive personalities and Strickland’s aggressive character.

After successfully completing their fourth title defense against Hangman Page and Brodido (Brody King and Bandido) at All Out, The New Level’s championship reign ended at AEW WrestleDream on October 17, 2026. In a Two-Out-of-Three Falls match, Page, King, and Bandido defeated Strickland, Kingston, and Creed. Following the loss, Strickland expressed frustration by dropping the championship belt on the ring canvas and walking away. A rematch between the two teams has been announced for the upcoming Full Gear event, though Hangman Page declined Strickland’s request to have the match contested under a Texas Death Match stipulation.
