Italian historic hill‑climb events, July 2026
Overview
In July 2026 the Marche region hosted a series of historic‑car competitions centered on the Trofeo Lodovico Scarfiotti. The “I Giovani di Lodovico” rally took place on 11 July, sending drivers under‑40 on a scenic circuit through Montecassiano, Sambucheto, Madonna del Monte, Montelupone, Potenza Picena, Porto Recanati and Loreto before concluding at the CAEM/Scarfiotti club.
The main hill‑climb, the 35th Trofeo Lodovico Scarfiotti (and 18th Trofeo Storico L. Scarfiotti), ran on 24‑26 July over the 9.9 km Sarnano‑Sassotetto course. Registrations opened in early July and closed on 20 July. On 22 July organizers confirmed a field of 154 pilots, including returning champion Stefano Di Fulvio, Achille Lombardi and Omar Magliona, and scheduled technical inspections and a briefing with race director Fabrizio Fondacci for 24 July. The 9 927‑metre circuit climbs from Brilli to the summit of Sassotetto, gaining 783 m at an average gradient of 7.92 %.
The race featured local driver Francesco Michea Carini in a Seat Ibiza Trophy (RS‑CUP class) and three GT Racing entries: Gabry Driver in a Ferrari 458 Challenge, Mirko Ciabini in a Peugeot 308 Cup, and Anna Maria Fumo in a Ferrari 488 Challenge. Grasso Racing Team entered a Renault 5 Proto prototype, aiming to improve against stronger Austrian rivals.
Concurrent events included the Cesana‑Sestriere hill‑climb in the Val di Susa, which held its 44th edition from 10‑12 July as part of both the Italian Historic Speed Hill‑Climb Championship and the FIA Historic Hill‑Climb Championship.
