Overview

Turkey’s Trade Ministry has significantly expanded its market oversight and enforcement actions throughout 2026. Following mid-July crackdowns on price gouging and hazardous child products, the scale of administrative penalties has risen sharply.

Separately, the Competition Authority reported issuing 19.7 billion TL in fines to 248 firms during the same eight-month period.

Parallel to these enforcement actions, the Ministry is moving forward with new e-commerce regulations designed to bolster competition. Proposed rules include mandatory compensation for lost or damaged cargo and requiring large marketplaces to allow sellers to transfer data—such as product descriptions, images, and reviews—to other platforms free of charge. The regulation also seeks to restrict the unauthorized use of competitors' trademarks in search engine advertisements.
