This included a performance at Mount Temple Comprehensive School, where the members first met in 1976 following a handwritten recruitment notice posted by Mullen. The schoolyard performance drew approximately 1,000 students and staff. The setlist included hits such as ‘I Will Follow’, ‘Vertigo’, ‘Beautiful Day’, ‘One’, and ‘With or Without You’, alongside the live debut of their new single, ‘Silencio’. During ‘One’, they were joined by approximately 30 young musicians from the Music Generation program.

Following the school appearance, the band held an impromptu concert on the balcony of Bewley’s Oriental Café on Grafton Street, which drew thousands of fans. During the festivities, the band paid tribute to the late Irish musician Glen Hansard, whom Bono described as the “king of street musicians.”

These anniversary events also served as a platform to announce their 16th studio album, ‘Carnaval De Luz’, scheduled for release on November 13. The album is expected to feature collaborations with Brian Eno, Martin Garrix, and Rosalía, as well as a posthumous duet between Bono and the late country icon Dolly Parton on the track ‘Torn’. The anniversary has also prompted renewed public discussion in Ireland regarding the band's cultural legacy and past controversies, such as their 2014 digital album distribution with Apple.
