Vietnam National Assembly President completes diplomatic way
Overview
Tran Thanh Man, President of the National Assembly of Vietnam, conducted official visits to South Korea and Mongolia between September 6 and 11, 2026, to deepen parliamentary diplomacy and implement foreign policy.
In South Korea, Chairman Man met with Prime Minister Han Seong Sook and National Assembly Speaker Cho Jeong Sik to strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The discussions focused on transitioning toward a high-tech and innovation-driven partnership, with bilateral trade targets set at $100 billion by 2026 and $150 billion by 2030. To support these goals, Man met with executives from Samsung Electronics, SK Group, LG Innotek, and Lotte Group to discuss cooperation in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, clean energy, and digital transformation.
Following the South Korean leg, the delegation traveled to Mongolia. On September 10, Chairman Man arrived in Ulaanbaatar for the first visit by a Vietnamese legislative leader to the country in 23 years. He held high-level talks with Mongolian Parliament Chairman Sandag Byambatsogt and Prime Minister Nyam-Osor Uchral to discuss the Comprehensive Partnership established in late 2024.
To formalize legislative ties, the two parliaments signed Memoranda of Understanding to enhance cooperation in law-making, international coordination, and administrative exchange. Economic discussions with Prime Minister Uchral and Deputy Prime Minister Jadamba Enkhbayar focused on connectivity and investment, with Mongolia expressing readiness to facilitate Vietnamese investment in leather, wool, and livestock production. Both nations also committed to strengthening cooperation in defense, security, digital transformation, and climate change response.
