VITURE Pro 2 XR glasses launch and availability
Overview
VITURE has released the Pro 2, a new generation of XR video display glasses designed to mirror content from USB-C devices onto large virtual screens. Part of the company’s fifth-anniversary hardware lineup, the device weighs approximately 63 to 65.5 grams, making it about 20 percent lighter and 16 percent thinner than the original VITURE Pro.
The glasses utilize Sony Micro-OLED displays with a peak brightness of 1,600 nits, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and a 1920 x 1080 resolution per eye. VITURE markets the experience as a 146-inch virtual screen. Technical improvements include enhanced field curvature, sharpness, and image stability via UltraClarity 3.0 technology. For nearsighted users, the frames feature built-in diopter adjustment dials capable of correcting from 0 to -5.0 diopters. The device lacks a processor, camera, or head-tracking capabilities.
Retailing at $299 (and 49,880 yen in Japan), the Pro 2 is positioned as a more affordable entry-level option compared to its predecessor. To complement the hardware, VITURE introduced the Mobile Dock Mini, a 10,000 mAh battery accessory that is 34 percent smaller and 30 percent lighter than previous generations. The dock allows for connecting up to two pairs of glasses via a single USB port and is available for $99, or $79 when bundled.
While the hardware offers high sharpness, some limitations have been noted, including a companion app that can be buggy and the requirement of an additional dongle to access all features when used with an iPhone. An experiential event for the new hardware is scheduled to take place in Harajuku, Tokyo.
