Vocational training initiatives in Campo Grande

In late August, the Community Support Fund (FAC) organized an upcycling workshop through the ‘Todos em Ação’ program, teaching participants to repurpose coffee filters into leather-like materials. Parallel efforts by the Executive Secretariat for Women (Semu) have focused on manual crafts and personal care. Following an embroidery workshop at Cras Zé Pereira from September 8 to 10, Semu concluded the course on September 13 for 20 women from the Zé Pereira neighborhood. Angélica Fontanari, the Executive Secretary for Women, stated that these initiatives aim to help women “recognize their potential and develop skills that can be transformed into a source of revenue,” while also providing a space for social interaction. Instructor Zunilda de Freitas noted the activity helps participants gain confidence in producing unique pieces.

Expanding these efforts, Semu concluded a three-day manicure and pedicure training course for women in the Vila Popular neighborhood. This initiative aimed to provide practical skills for income generation or returning to previous professions. Fontanari noted that decentralizing these sessions to specific neighborhoods is a strategic move to align public policies with the daily realities of women, fostering greater autonomy and accessibility.
