Infrastructure development in Croatia and Bosnia and Herz

Regional authorities in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina continue to implement various infrastructure and development projects.

In Croatia, Zadar County is advancing several initiatives. County Prefect Josip Bilaver reported progress on the Bibinje railway line relocation, noting that a location permit has been obtained. Energy renovation works at the St. Anthony Health Center in Benkovac, valued at approximately 1.3 million euros, are underway with a scheduled completion date of November 30, 2026. This project is funded by Zadar County and the European Union’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan. Additionally, Jadrolinija is establishing a new high-speed catamaran line between Zadar and Ancona, and tenders for water supply networks are upcoming.

The Zadar County Road Administration (ŽUC) has also announced it will have over 11 million euros available for road maintenance and reconstruction, exceeding its original budget due to a 62.2 percent rise in revenue from public road usage fees. The program includes reconstructing 25 road sections, such as the road through Radašinovce.

In Osijek-Baranja County, contracts have been signed for the installation of pedestrian traffic lights in six municipalities—Vladislavci, Ernestinovo, Vije, Punitovci, Gorjani, and Semeljci—to improve safety near schools and health centers. These signals may include technology such as speed detectors.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Zenica-Doboj Canton has allocated 3.6 million KM for road infrastructure projects to enhance local connectivity and tourism. This includes 360,000 KM for the reconstruction of the Tišina-Mošćanica road. Premier Nezir Pivić stated that improving road networks is essential to unlocking the canton’s tourism potential.
