While the French subsidiary Lapierre has entered creditor proceedings to restructure debt, the future of the broader Accell portfolio remains uncertain as administrators weigh asset sales against possible liquidation.

On 10 August, the situation escalated as the Accell Group officially filed for bankruptcy following failed attempts to secure fresh investment and a failed sale process. In Germany, the Schweinfurt court ordered insolvency proceedings under self-administration for the German holding company and its subsidiaries, which reported a 2025 turnover of 340 million euros. Management is attempting to find an investor to decouple these German operations from the international group. In the Netherlands, the bankruptcy affects approximately 340 employees across Amsterdam, Heerenveen, and Apeldoorn, where curators are investigating potential restarts to preserve value.
