Alabama Shakes album rollout

Overview

After an 11-year hiatus, Alabama Shakes confirmed that their third studio album, *I Must Be Dreaming*, will be released on 28 August 2025 via Island Records. The record was recorded in Nashville’s Sound Emporium and Blackbird Studios and produced with longtime collaborator Shawn Everett.

The announcement was accompanied by the lead single “I Feel Hope Coming”, described by vocalist Brittany Howard as a hopeful protest hymn. Earlier 2025 singles “Another Life” and “American Dream” also feature on the upcoming album, which will contain eleven tracks including “Tea Time”, “Garden”, and “How Love’s Supposed To Go”.

To promote the release, the band is undertaking a worldwide headline tour, playing summer festivals in Europe and planning North-American dates later in the summer, including shows alongside the Tedeschi Trucks Band and a concert at New York’s Radio City Music Hall.

In July 2026, the group performed at Vancouver’s Freedom Mobile Arch at the Pacific National Exhibition, drawing about 9,000 fans—their first Vancouver-area show in more than a decade—and debuted several new songs from the album. Additional dates at the venue were announced for early August as part of the PNE’s Summer Night Concert series.

On 5 August 2026, the band released the track “Garden” as a preview for the album. The upcoming record is described as a psychedelic-soul work that expands the band’s rootsy sound into funkier directions, exploring themes of love, destiny, connection, nature, and modern life’s contradictions.
