Argentina, Chile expand public asset auctions
Entities: Ministry of National Assets (Chile) · Argentina · Tania Yedro · Catalina Parot · Federico Sturzenegger
Overview
In July 2026 the Argentine government continued its program of disposing public assets through competitive auctions, adding new types of property and extending its timeline. Earlier that month the state announced the sale of the Pro.Cre.Ar housing development in Junín and an electronic auction of a seized property in Bahía Blanca, followed by Banco Ciudad’s auction of six vacant inheritance properties in Buenos Aires neighborhoods.
On 30 July, Argentina issued Resolution 120/26 to contract private digital platforms for online auctions of unused state movable assets, expanding the disposals beyond real‑estate to include vehicles, machinery, equipment, artwork and other items. The measure, signed by Agency of Administration of State Assets head Tania Yedro and explained by Minister Federico Sturzenegger, aims to speed transactions and cut holding costs.
Simultaneously, Chile’s Ministry of National Assets launched the first phase of a large‑scale public‑asset sale, offering 100 state‑owned properties valued at about US$70 million, with 14 properties in the Coquimbo region now available through a new digital bidding portal. The broader Chilean program targets roughly 1,200 under‑used assets, seeking to raise up to US$300 million for public finances.
