São Paulo wins first women's Brasileirão title

Overview

São Paulo secured its first Campeonato Brasileiro A1 women's football title following a 1-1 draw against Corinthians in the second leg of the final at Morumbis stadium. Having won the first leg 2-1 at the Neo Química Arena, São Paulo confirmed the championship with a 3-2 aggregate victory.

The decisive match set a record for attendance in a club match in South America, with 49,405 spectators present. This historic crowd generated R$ 821,925 in revenue and achieved significant television reach, hitting 14 rating points on Globo in Greater São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

Bia Menezes opened the scoring for São Paulo in the 10th minute, but Corinthians equalized in the 18th minute when a long ball deflected off goalkeeper Carlinha to Juliete. To preserve the draw, Carlinha saved a penalty from Gabi Zanotti during the match.

This victory ends the recent dominance of Corinthians, who had won six previous editions and seven of the last eight championships. As the champion, São Paulo earned R$ 2.72 million in total prizes and quotas, while runner-up Corinthians received R$ 1.72 million. Both clubs secured spots in the Copa Libertadores Feminina. The tournament saw increased financial support from the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), which doubled the clubs' participation quota from R$ 360,000 to R$ 720,000.
