Developments in the 30th Concurs de Castells

Overview

The 30th Concurs de Castells in Tarragona has progressed through its qualification, scheduling, and competition phases. Following the announcement of 42 qualified groups—led by Castellers de Vilafranca, Colla Vella, and Joves de Valls—the event established a performance order via a public draw in El Vendrell. The competition structure includes sessions in Torredembarra and at the Tarraco Arena.

As the competition commenced, Castellers d'Esparreguera secured a historic victory in the first session in Torredembarra. The event has drawn significant international media attention, with over 300 accredited journalists from 16 countries.

The main competition sessions held on October 3 and 4 faced disruptions due to adverse weather and restrictions from the INUNCAT emergency plan, necessitating schedule modifications to ensure safety. An awards ceremony to provide institutional closure for the 30th edition is scheduled for October 31 in Plaça de la Font, where participating groups and the best ‘grallers’ musical groups will be recognized.
