Despite a recent confirmed case of screwworm in a horse in New Mexico, officials maintain that the reopening schedule remains unchanged. Chihuahua’s Secretary of Rural Development, Mauro Parada Muñoz, emphasized the importance of maintaining strict sanitary protocols and documentation to prevent future closures. While Santa Teresa is the first crossing to resume operations, authorities are planning to reopen the Palomas–Columbus crossing within 30 days.
