Chihuahua state service and rights initiatives
Overview
The government of Chihuahua has introduced new initiatives to improve service delivery and accessibility for its citizens.
The Chihuahua State Human Rights Commission (CEDH) launched a sixth mobile office in San Rafael, Urique, to provide legal guidance and complaint reception to remote and indigenous communities. Operating biweekly at the San Rafael Municipal Library, the office utilizes specialized staff and a Rarámuri language interpreter. This is part of broader efforts to protect indigenous rights, including gender principle training in municipalities such as Creel, Guachochi, and Juárez, and the production of informative materials in the Rarámuri language.
Concurrently, the state government launched a centralized digital portal, ‘Mi Trámite Chihuahua’, designed to consolidate 972 administrative procedures. The platform features an artificial intelligence-powered chatbot to assist with user inquiries and includes accessibility tools for individuals with disabilities. The portal also provides interactive maps for government offices and specialized sections for health services, including MediChihuahua, Ichisal, and Pensiones Civiles.
Furthering social support, the state government hosted a services fair for women in Ciudad Juárez. Organized through the Subsecretaría de Desarrollo Humano y Bien Común and the Instituto Chihuahuense de la Juventud, the event provided ‘Welcome Kits’ for pregnant women and mothers, workshops on mental health and nutrition, and access to the ‘Juntas Crecemos’ program, which distributes semiannual checks to selected mothers aged 12 to 29 to foster autonomy.
