During the deployment, Chinese aircraft completed a long-range flight of over 6,000 kilometers, lasting approximately nine hours, facilitated by YY-20 aerial refueling tankers. Observers note that the exercise provides the People's Liberation Army Air Force with a rare opportunity to test its systems against Western-made platforms like the Rafale in a realistic combat simulation. Experts suggest this allows the PLA to observe the flight characteristics and tactical behavior of the Rafale, which is also operated by the Indian Air Force. The drills also involve Egyptian MiG-29 fighters.

These drills follow reports that Egypt signed an agreement in August 2026 to purchase Chinese J-10C fighters to replace aging American F-16 models. The exercises aim to improve interoperability and electronic warfare capabilities, helping Egypt integrate Chinese and Western weapon systems into a unified command network.
