Dominican Republic Supérate social program expansion

The Dominican Republic’s social development agency, Supérate, is expanding its infrastructure and conducting regional outreach to assess the impact of its social protection services.

In Hato Mayor, the agency held a forum with beneficiaries from El Valle and Sabana de la Mar. During these discussions, families requested increased subsidy amounts for the Supérate card and expanded coverage for programs such as Bono Gas, Bono Luz, and elderly pensions. Agency directors Mayra Jiménez and Alin Mercedes Calderón stated that these encounters would be used to adjust government policies. The agency reported that 17,512 households in the area receive assistance through various programs, including Aliméntate, disability subsidies, and Supérate Mujer.

To reduce geographic barriers, Supérate opened a new service office in Boca Chica. This office aims to help the 48,207 households in the municipality manage administrative processes, update family data, and resolve payment claims. The local government expressed support for the initiative, noting that educational incentives like Aprende and Avanza already benefit 1,957 families in the Boca Chica and La Caleta areas.

In Peravia province, Supérate held a listening session with over 1,300 beneficiary families from Baní, Matanzas, and Nizao to evaluate program impact. Director General Mayra Jiménez noted that the agency currently impacts 28,672 families in the province. Participants requested expanded coverage for Aliméntate and Bonogás, inclusion in the disability fund, and increased pensions for senior citizens. Regional Director Miguel Peña stated these sessions allow the institution to align its actions with local realities.
