Overview

The Dominican Republic’s social development agency, Supérate, continues to expand its infrastructure and regional outreach to assess the impact of its social protection services. Under the ‘Del Escritorio al Territorio’ (From the Desk to the Territory) strategy, the program has conducted 35 regional encounters since February, reaching over 23,000 beneficiaries nationwide. In Pedernales, Supérate is expanding its reach by supporting artisan entrepreneurship and opening a new service office in Oviedo. The program currently supports 5,513 families in Pedernales through various subsidies, including food, gas, electricity, and specialized funds for women and children with disabilities, while the ‘Aprende y Avanza’ incentive benefits 1,008 households in the area. Director Mayra Jiménez stated these initiatives aim to improve quality of life by bringing services directly to vulnerable communities.
