Drew McIntyre WWE return status and film career

Overview

Drew McIntyre remains without a definitive return date to WWE television following his hiatus after WrestleMania 42, where he lost an unsanctioned match to Jacob Fatu. While WWE executives have engaged in internal discussions regarding his potential return and how he might integrate into upcoming schedules, no firm dates have been established. Creative plans originally intended for late August were reportedly postponed.

McIntyre’s primary focus has shifted toward a growing Hollywood career. He is involved in several film projects, including the ‘Highlander’ reboot directed by Chad Stahelski, Disney’s animated film ‘Hexed’, and ‘Agent of Shadows’. He also noted involvement in ‘The Last Druid’ alongside Russell Crowe and Henry Cavill. McIntyre has credited former wrestler Batista with helping launch his acting career, specifically noting Batista’s role in securing his part in the film ‘The Killer’s Game’. McIntyre has stated that his ‘Hollywood Drew’ persona has garnered jealousy from other stars, but he maintains he is in peak physical condition.

Regarding his WWE status, McIntyre has expressed a desire for future matchups against rivals like Roman Reigns and noted a collaborative relationship with the current creative team under Triple H. He observed that current management supports talent pursuing outside opportunities if it benefits their brand. In a recent interview with CNN-News18, McIntyre confirmed his intention to return to professional wrestling, though he stated that the timing is not yet right for his comeback. He clarified that he is not actively pursuing a Hollywood career, but rather that opportunities have come to him naturally. He expressed gratitude to WWE executives Nick Khan and Triple H for providing the flexibility to explore acting while maintaining his connection to the company.
