Geraldo Leite Rosa Neto feminicide investigation

Overview

The investigation into the death of Military Police soldier Gisele Alves Santana has progressed through legal delays and formal interrogation. Initially, the São Paulo State Court postponed the interrogation of Lieutenant Colonel Geraldo Leite Rosa Neto to allow for the inclusion of complementary investigative findings and forensic expert questioning.

During his subsequent interrogation, Rosa Neto denied charges of qualified feminicide and procedural fraud, maintaining that his wife committed suicide. He alleged that physical evidence, such as strangulation marks, may have been fabricated by the victim’s family or representatives at the morgue, and he requested a review of morgue security footage. Neto also criticized the Civil Police as “extremely biased” and suggested digital records on the victim’s phone might have been forged.

Prosecutors and the victim’s legal representatives have contested these claims, asserting that forensic evidence makes suicide impossible. The victim’s family’s lawyer has expressed intentions to sue the Lieutenant Colonel following his testimony. Rosa Neto remains in preventive detention at the Romão Gomes Military Prison.
